Sony VAIO P series

DESCRIPTION
The Sony Vaio P is available in five colour options: Dove White, Emerald Green, Glossy Black, Gold, and Sangria Red. It has an 8" LED-backlit display with native resolution of 1600x768. It weighs 1.4-1.7 pounds and features 2 GB of RAM combined with various Intel Atom processors.
The preinstalled operating system is the 32-bit version of either Windows Vista Basic, Windows Vista Home Premium, or Windows Vista Business, dependent on model. The P-series also incorporate an "Instant Mode", which uses a Linux build coupled with Sony's XrossMediaBar interface to provide web-browsing and media player capabilities with a 20-second boot time. In June 2009 Sony made driver support available for downgrading the range to Microsoft Windows XP.
Several people have succeeded in installing various versions of Linux on the Vaio P, most notably Ubuntu Linux (Version 9.04, Jaunty). Ubuntu is arguably the best alternative due to its ease of installation and configuration, and the fact that full 3D graphics can be utilized with this setup . It's arguable that Linux or something similar is a better pick for the Vaio P, as the Intel Atom processor is not of the same class as typical desktop CPUs and doesn't fare too well under Vista's significant resource requirements, despite being loaded with 2GB of DDR2 RAM.

An integrated webcam (optional in some regions of the world) is located on the upper right corner. It also features built-in GPS, Bluetooth, 802.11 b/g/n wireless, mobile broadband, and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500 video chipset. It has no optical drive, like most ultraportables and netbooks. Dependent on the model, storage is either a 60GB hard disk drive or 64GB or 128GB solid state drive. On June 26th, 2009, Sony released the VAIO Signature Collection P series, which has an Intel Atom Z540 and a 256 GB SSD, retailing at $1899.99.

mobile phone or mobile

A mobile phone or mobile (also called cellphone and handphone) is an electronic device used for mobile telecommunications (mobile telephone, text messaging or data transmission) over a cellular network of specialized base stations known as cell sites. Mobile phones differ from cordless telephones, which only offer telephone service within limited range, e.g. within a home or an office, through a fixed line and a base station owned by the subscriber and also from satellite phones and radio telephones. As opposed to a radio telephone, a cell phone offers full duplex communication, automates calling to and paging from a public land mobile network (PLMN), and handoff (handover) during a phone call when the user moves from one cell (base station coverage area) to another. Most current cell phones connect to a cellular network consisting of switching points and base stations (cell sites) owned by a mobile network operator. In addition to the standard voice function, current mobile phones may support many additional services, and accessories, such as SMS for text messaging, email, packet switching for access to the Internet, gaming, Bluetooth, infrared, camera with video recorder and MMS for sending and receiving photos and video, MP3 player, radio and GPS.

The International Telecommunication Union estimated that mobile cellular subscriptions worldwide would reach approximately 4.6 billion by the end of 2009. Mobile phones have gained increased importance in the sector of Information and communication technologies for development in the 2000s and have effectively started to reach the bottom of the economic pyramid

desktop

A desktop computer is a personal computer (PC) in a form intended for regular use at a single location, as opposed to a mobile laptop or portable computer. Prior to the wide spread of microprocessors, a computer that could fit on a desk was considered remarkably small. Desktop computers come in a variety of types ranging from large vertical tower cases to small form factor models that can be tucked behind an LCD monitor. "Desktop" can also indicate a horizontally-oriented computer case usually intended to have the display screen placed on top to save space on the desk top. Most modern desktop computers have separate screens and keyboards. Tower cases are desktop cases in the earlier sense, though not in the latter. Cases intended for home theater PC systems are usually considered to be desktop cases in both senses, regardless of orientation and placement.

laptop

A Laptop is a personal computer designed for mobile use and small and light enough to sit on a person's lap while in use.A laptop integrates most of the typical components of a desktop computer, including a display, a keyboard, a pointing device (a touchpad, also known as a trackpad, and/or a pointing stick), speakers, and often including a battery, into a single small and light unit. The rechargeable battery (if present) is charged from an AC adapter and typically stores enough energy to run the laptop for two to three hours in its initial state, depending on the configuration and power management of the computer

Laptops are usually notebook-shaped with thicknesses between 0.7–1.5 inches (18–38 mm) and dimensions ranging from 10x8 inches (27x22cm, 13" display) to 15x11 inches (39x28cm, 17" display) and up. Modern laptops weigh 3 to 12 pounds (1.4 to 5.4 kg); older laptops were usually heavier. Most laptops are designed in the flip from factor to protect the screen and the keyboard when closed. Modern tablet laptop have a complex joint between the keyboard housing and the display, permitting the display panel to swivel and then lie flat on the keyboard housing
